Friday Away

It's Friday, YAY! Time to walk away from work and relax over the weekend. I plan to really take some time to re-centre. Have a fabulous weekend everyone.

The path

The past couple of weeks at work have been really tough and to be honest, I'm struggling. I've realised though that I need to stop getting bogged down in the detail and try to learn to keep some perspective. I've chosen this path that I'm on for a reason and I believe it's the right path to take. There are going to be ups and downs and sometimes the going will get rough. That's where I am right now, in one of those rough places. The funny thing is it's only work that's rough right now and outside of work there are all these amazing things happening. Why am I letting this one part of my life suck the energy from the rest of it?

Five Things I Miss About Vancouver

With the Winter Olympics being on in Vancouver at the moment it's such a reminder of my time living there. This time last year I was still living there and even though I love being back home I do often think of my time there fondly. So today I thought I'd do my Five Things about Vancouver.

Five Things I Miss About Living In Vancouver:

1. My friends. I met some amazing people in Vancouver and some of them I feel will be life long friends.

2. Seeing snow capped mountains for a large portion of the year (see above). Obviously they're not always as covered in this picture but they are always there watching over the city.

3. Yam Fries. They make the best yam fries in Vancouver.

4. Chinatown. Vancouver's Chinatown is so full of interesting stores and a wide variety of produce.

5. Six Acres and the Brickhouse. Best bars in Vancouver in my opinion.

End Of The Week

As the sunsets on another week I'm really glad it's Friday. This week has been up and down. Some fantastic things have happened and yet there's been many frustrations as well. I'm looking forward to rejuvinating over the weekend ready to start next week in a better mental place.

Love Thursday

I was watering my vegetable garden before work when I heard a whooshing sound. Looking up I saw these two balloons travelling over my back yard. With that beautiful morning light I just had to run inside for the camera and managed to catch them before they drifted from view. What a wonderful way to start the day.

Five Things

Recently I was reading one of my favourite blogs, chookooloonks, and came across this photographer/blogger, Andrea Jenkins. I had a browse on her blog and came across this post.

Now I have always been (and still am) a big fan of a list and Andrea's idea appealed to me. A day or so later I read about the Blog It Forward Mash Up on another of my favourite blogs and the idea of "what inspires you" struck a chord with me as well. As I began to think about what does inspire me and I decided I would merge the two ideas and "Inspiration" would be my first of my Five Things lists. So here goes:

Five Things That Inspire Me -

• People who pursue their dreams
• Random acts of kindness
• Photo blogs (the ones listed above included)
• A good song. Lately I can't get enough of this one, especially where it kicks off at 1:49 mins and the crazy banjo playing at 2:24 mins
• A sunrise, a sunset, the beach, walking amongst trees, an amazing view, swimming in the ocean....

Luluc

I went to the most amazing show last night. The band are called Luluc and they're a local band. They played in this fantastic warehouse. It was their farewell gig as they are heading off to the States - so you North Americans keep an eye out for them. Zoe has a voice of an angel, listen for yourself here.

Silver Lining

Walking to work I saw this reflection and it looked like it was glowing. It made me stop and reach for the camera instantly. As I stood there on the bridge with people hurrying past me on their way to work I took a moment to smile and remember to stop and look for the silver lining. Every cloud has one it's just that sometimes we too busy to notice.

Tree Dreaming

I need to make more time time for "tree dreaming". You know that certain day-dreaming that can only occur when you're sitting under a tree. It's so easy to get overwhelmed and disheartened by the every day petty details sometimes and even just ten minutes under a tree, dreaming, can help. Have you done any tree dreaming lately?

I've always wanted to have a motorbike. There's something about them that just seems to symbolise freedom. I dream of one day taking a motorbike road trip. One day.

Time Out

I took some time out for me today and had a coffee in this gorgeous little cafe. Being a weekday is was quieter than on the weekends which was lovely. It was some good quality "me time" and certainly recharged the batteries. Have you had some "me time" lately? I can highly recommend it.

Love Thursday

I love the blue colour of the sky at sunset, I think it's my favourite colour in the world. It always feels like such a magical time with the end of one day and the expectation of what anew day will bring. What's your favourite colour?

I saw these cats down an alley that I often cut down on my lunch break. It's funny I've never really noticed them before now. I love the way they've been created to look like they're just sitting on the step.

Full Moon

This weekend just gone was a full moon. It was so beautiful and bright I just had to try and photograph it. I always find capturing the true beauty of the moon is so difficult. This was my best attempt.

One Step At A Time

I woke up this morning with that "here we go again" Monday feeling. In the 9 to 5 world I find Monday's can be hard. I have to keep reminding myself to just keep putting one foot in front of the other, one step at a time towards the day when my dreams become a reality.
