Street Art Wednesday
This has to be one of the cutest pieces of street art I have ever seen. These little girls just make me smile and want to join in.

Swedish Christmas Markets
Today we went to the Swedish Christmas Markets. There is always loads of great stuff to look at but my favourite thing is the delicious food. These open sandwiches are to die for.

Street Art Wednesday
My poor Nikon D60 is still at the camera doctor and I still don't know what is wrong with it. It's so weird to not have it and of course I keep seeing things I want to take photos of. Instead I am stuck with the iphone. It's not really a bad option but it's not the same. I do love Instagram though, so that seems to be my default when capturing images.
I saw this artwork tonight coming home from work. So cool.

Instagram Sunday
This photo looks so stormy and cold but in truth it was a beautiful warm day. We went for a drive out to the Yarra Valley and stopped in at the Punt Road winery. These are all the apple tree used to make delicious cider.
It was so nice to get out of town.

Friday Afternoon
Today I caught up with a friend for coffee. It was such a lovely afternoon sitting by the river. I know on a Friday I usually do a macro shot but this moment was too nice to not share.

The Rainbow Connection
I saw this beautiful rainbow last night. Yesterday afternoon it rained and rained and then just on sunset it stopped for a bit and this amazing full rainbow appeared. Everyone came out of their tents and stared in awe at it. I was disappointed not to have my camera with me (sadly my Nikon D60 recently died and is about to get sent to the Nikon repair shop so I have been making do with my iphone and point and shoot), but the iphone did a good job of capturing it.
This rainbow made me smile for a long while.

Time For Reflection
Last night we drove up to the Grampians for a mini break and today we went on a walk to Bee Hive falls. The falls themselves were a little underwhelming but the pools nearby (such as this one) and the surrounds were beautiful. We took a little detour off the beaten track and climbed up the escarpment to witness an amazing view and some crazy limestone caves. It's so good to be away and have some time to relax and reflect.

On Inspiration (Or Lack Thereof)
The past few weeks I have been totally uninspired. In fact
to be honest it’s been a while. For the first time in a year and 9 months, I
really didn’t want to update my blog. I don’t know where it has come from or
what the cause but all I know is that I felt I was forcing it. Making myself
take photos and as a result, the photos were pretty average and left me with an
empty lost feeling rather than one of pride or inspiration. So I made the call
to stop. Just stop posting. I apologise to you all for just disappearing but I
really didn’t know what else to do.
I can’t say my inspiration is back, I’m not sure. But I do
know that this post has been gnawing away in the back of my brain and I know
that I’m not done with blogging all together just yet. I may look at just
posting once a week? I haven’t decided. But I do want you to know, I’m not
gone, just on hiatus. I’ll be back soon.

Love Thursday
I love round windows, especially stained glass ones. I don't know why, I just really like the way they look. I took this photo in a house we stayed at a few weekends ago, as a reminder for if/when I ever build my own home.

Street Art Wednesday
I apologise for the average quality of this photo, I took it with my iphone at night. I saw it the other day when heading out to dinner and something about it just grabbed me and I had to stop and take a shot. I'm drawn to the truth. The truth about who we all really are and the truth behind the facade that we present to the world. Sometimes it's hard to hear the truth and other times it's hard to tell it but at the end of the day, the truth is often the best way to go.

Two Week Photo Project
The new Two Week Photo Project theme went up today. Head over to Flickr to check it out. I usually try and out up a photo related to the theme on the day I announce it but since going back to work, my photo taking has diminished slightly. Next week for the update I promise I'll post one, but for now you can have a lovely view of my city taken on my walk home tonight.

Sitting On The Bank

day on the bank of a river without feeling guilty about it.

Endings & Beginnings
I have had such a relaxing week. This week is the last week of my "six months of freedom" before I go back to full time work. My job is season, so is only over the summer. This winter I took the chance to be a free agent and do whatever my heart desired. I've travelled, I've worked casually, I've had time to read books and as a result I'm in a fantastic state of mind and feeling really relaxed. In saying that, I am looking forward to the challenge of being back on the job.

Two Week Photo Project
Today is the first day of the new theme for the Two Week Photo Project. Head over to Flickr and check out the past photos from our last theme, water. Some beautiful shots by all involved.
I also did another photo shoot today with a friend, Lucy. She needed some photos for acting head shots, so I offered to take them. It was great fun. The more of these sorts of things that I do, the more I think it's the direction I want to take with my photography.

Quarry Mountain Dead Rats
Tonight I went to see some bluegrass bands at the Thornbury Theatre. The Quarry Mountain Dead Rats were my favourite. I haven't really invested much time listening to bluegrass but after last night's gig I think I may need to rectify that. The energy and talent of these musicians is amazing and the music itself is fantastic.

Macro Friday
I saw this shell trapped in the driftwood while walking along the beach this week. I actually stopped to look at the wood as there were some puddles in the grooves and I tried to photograph them. It was then that I noticed the shell. It's funny how that happens, our attention is grabbed by one thing but really what we need to see is something completely different.

Things I Love
I love the ocean. I love to stand on the top of a cliff with the wind blowing and stare out over the waves to the horizon beyond. I love the idea that on the other sides of the ocean there are all sorts of different countries and different lives being lived. I love the adventure that staring out over those horizons inspires in me.

Street Art Wednesday
I saw this little guy on my lunch break recently. It's hard to see the detail as I only had my iphone with me, but it looks like a little owl made of tin cans, icy-pole sticks and other odds and ends. He was nailed up below the "No Entry" sign and I'm actually surprised I noticed him.

Two Week Photo Project Update
I've been down the beach the past two days and it's been fantastic to get away. The first day we were down the sun was shining and the weather was gorgeous (see yesterday's photo) and then today things took a turn and the wind came in. The sun was still out intermittently but it was cold. I saw this little tree on the edge of the cliff, clinging for dear life and I just had to take a photo. I think it really sums up the craziness of the wind that was blowing (not to mention the choppy water on the bay).
I also wanted to mention the Two Week Photo Project is going really well. The latest theme has brought out some great interpretations, it's great.

Spring Inspiration
Love these seedlings. I'm getting inspired to start planting our herb garden. It's a little early just yet but seeing all these gorgeous seedlings has motivated me. I haven't decided just what to plant just yet but I'm looking forward to having loads of lovely herbs come summer. I'll keep you posted on my progress.

Claire & The Cape
Today I did some voice recording at Melbourne Uni for Claire's sister-in-law. It's something I've always wanted to do and it was great fun. I'd love to do more of it. Afterwards Claire & I did a mini photo shoot to show off her new cape.

Today is the first day of the new cycle of the Two Week Photo Project. Can you guess what the new theme is? I'm really enjoying this project and loving having a focus every two weeks for my photography.
