For this month's self portrait, it's another photo from my early morning walk this week.

St Kilda Pier
I had an unexpected windfall/change of plans this morning. I turned up to a stage management job and no-one was around. I called my contact who then informed me that the call time had been pushed back by a couple of hours. At 8:30am this is not always the best news as I'd battled traffic to get there on time. This could have been a major inconvenience, however it was such a beautiful morning and I was by the beach. So I spent a lovely hour or so wandering along the beach front and on the pier, then went for a coffee and read the paper. All in all, a fabulously relaxed morning. Unfortunately I hadn't brought my camera so I had to make do with the iphone.

Grimstones
The past few days I've been working on a show called the Grimstones. It's primarily a puppet show and it's amazing. The puppetry is exceptional and the the puppets really come alive. It's a kids show but also entertaining for adults. You can read more about it here.

Roller Derby
Tonight I went to Roller Derby for the first time and I loved it. It's such a crazy sport but very entertaining. By the end we were getting the hang of all the rules, but I think I'd need to go again to really understand it. It's so fast and action packed, it was hard to take it all in at once. There was a big crowd there though and they were getting right into it, so the atmosphere was great.

Opportunity
But we often look so long and so regretfully upon the
closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.

The Perfect Saturday Morning
I had the perfect Saturday morning today. I spent the morning drinking several cups of tea, reading a fabulous book - The Beauty of Different - and listening to the entire Iron & Wine back catalogue. I highly recommend reading this book. It is amazing, beautiful and inspiring. Get yourself a copy.

Macro Friday - Mountain Goat
This is my favourite beer at the moment. It's the best. So I thought it'd make a good Macro Friday shot.

Coming Down
I feel as though the past few weeks have gallopped past me and I have no idea where they have gone. I feel as though I have been swept up in the current and pulled aalong for the ride and only now am I able to raise my head up and look around. The time has come to stop, to come down, to slow down and to ground myself again. There are opportunities knocking on my door but I need to find a quiet place so I can know which path to take.

Notes From The Universe
was ever lost - not friendships, not opportunities, not love - nothing?
And that they already had all those things they went searching for?
That never once were we disappointed in them?
That nothing had to be proved, learned, or earned?
That all along they were, in fact, the person they had always dreamed of becoming?
And that they already had all those things they went searching for?

First Day of Autumn
I can't believe it's the first day of autumn, where is the year going? I don't quite feel ready to be in autumn already and am sad to say goodbye to the summer. Although in saying that, autumn is my favourite season. I love the colours. I love getting out my boots and scarves and for some reason autumn always feels full of possibility to me. I look forward to seeing what the season brings.
